Presenting high technology: Mitutoyo at EMO 2015

With some 150,000 visitors the EMO trade fair in Milan is among the largest and most renounced metal-working shows throughout the world. Alternately held in Hannover and Milan, Upper Italy was the location for the show this year from October 5 through 10. Mitutoyo, being a renounced and innovative measuring instrument manufacturer, presented a wealth of innovative new products, inline measuring solutions and measuring devices that are among the fastest and most accurate.

What attracted a lot of attention is one of the Japanese metrology specialists’ most outstanding novelties: The new generation of Quick Image, a ground-breaking new 2D vision measuring system. With the new QIPAK v5 software it takes just a single click of a button to trigger automatic recognition of the part on the work stage, aligning and measurement of all features within the field of view. The visitors were free to conduct their own measurings and experience its easy operating.

Outstanding measuring solutions for inspection integrated into a production line were demonstrated by the coordinate measuring in-line solutions MACH-V and MACH 3A. The MACH-V is especially suitable for rough workshop surroundings between 5°C and 35°C and boasts high dust resistance due to the installation of all drive system and scale units in dust-tight enclosures. The tried and tested MACH Ko-ga-me is especially favored for applications in machinery engineering, the bearings industry as well as in machining of medical and dental implants. At EMO, the visitors could watch a Ko-ga-me measure workpieces in a double-frame constellation loaded by a robot.

Mitutoyo is also well-known for their innovative software solutions. Consequently the half-hourly demos on the software stage, revealing the benefits of the integrated data management suite MeasurLink 8 – amongst others, were well-attended. Another highlight was the ground-breaking MiCAT Planner software that vastly speeds up CMM part program generation.

Very popular especially among young visitors: The Mitutoyo Education Packs, a range of items designed to serve as convenient references to the theory and practice of engineering metrology for use in the classroom, workplace and laboratory ‑ from easy access wallcharts to a comprehensive reference book.

As the conclusion of the 80 years’ company anniversary year Mitutoyo, president Toru Nakagawa and Yoshiaki Numata, Senior Executive Director, attended along with 40 Japanese guests.
